Stefano Di Carlo Elected New River Plate President

Stefano Di Carlo was elected this Saturday as the new president of River Plate, ensuring the continuity of the official project led by Rodolfo D’Onofrio and Jorge Brito. At 36 years old, Di Carlo won the election with a resounding 61.77% of the vote (over 25,500 members participated) and became the third youngest president in the club's history, behind only Leopoldo Bard and Antonio Vespucio Liberti. Stefano Di Carlo is the new president of River Plate. His election consolidates a cycle of official management that has lasted for over a decade at the club. A surname with history at River Di Carlo is not an unfamiliar name in the halls of the Monumental. His connection is familial: he is the grandson of Osvaldo “Titi” Di Carlo, who was club president in 1989, and the great-grandson of Ángel Di Carlo, pro-secretary during the Antonio Liberti era. His life has been intertwined with the institution: he attended primary and secondary school at the club, and according to reports, his grandfather died in the San Martín stand in 2005 during a Copa Libertadores match, an event that “marked the emotional bond” that ties him to River. From D'Onofrio to Brito His entry into club politics was alongside Rodolfo D’Onofrio. In 2018, at just 27 years old, he became the youngest vice president in River's history, a position he held until 2021. During Jorge Brito's management, his main backer, he served as General Secretary. From that post, he led the digital transformation of the member registry (River ID), which grew from 70,000 to over 350,000 registered users, and he pushed the new model for memberships and tickets that has allowed the Monumental to remain packed for every match. Gallardo and the roof for the Monumental Di Carlo, who will be accompanied by Andrés Ballotta (Vice 1°) and Clara D'Onofrio (Vocal 1ª), has two central objectives for his management: To ensure the continuity of Marcelo Gallardo as head coach (or “SEO” of football). To advance with the ambitious project to roof the Monumental stadium and expand its capacity to 100,000 people.
